What is a Trixie bet?

A Trixie bet is a three-leg wager that consists of four different bets; three double bets and one treble bet. A $1 Trixie bet will cost $4, as $1 is placed on each of the four bets. The winning return is calculated by adding each of the four separate bets together. If two selections win and one selection loses, a Trixie bet will still return a dividend. One of the double bets will be successful, however; the treble bet and the two double bets that contain the losing selection will lose.

If the selections in each of the three legs are: A, B and C, the four bets that make up a Trixie are:

  • Double: A and B
  • Double: A and C
  • Double: B and C
  • Treble: A, B and C

Our free Trixie calculator will quickly calculate the bet cost and winning return of any Trixie bet.
