License information

BetEasy is licensed and regulated by the Northern Territory government. They are also bound and regulated by the Interactive Gaming Act 2001. This means they are legally able to offer wagering services to residents of Australia.

History and ownership

BetEasy launched its betting site back in 2015. The launch came after former Sportsbet CEO Matthew Tripp purchased the now defunct business, granting him a license to immediately pursue the Australian online betting market. At this stage, Crown Resorts, owned a major stake in the business which, gave Tripp the backing to aggressively target new customers via generous promotional activities.

In 2018, Canadian wagering company The Stars Group forked out $150M for Crown Resorts 62% stake in the business giving them a majority shareholding. In a subsequent move, The Stars Group increased their stake in BetEasy, whilst also acquiring betting agency William Hill Australia.

Service type

BetEasy is an Australian based online bookmaker that provides traditional fixed odds markets to customers. They are a corporate bookmaker in the same vein as that of its major competitor, Sportsbet Australia.

Responsible gambling

BetEasy is a founding member of Responsible Wagering Australia, an industry body made up solely of licensed Australian betting companies that abide by a code of conduct to fund research into problem gambling and promote harm minimisation practices. They also adhere to the South Australian Government’s code of practice for responsible gambling measures.

In addition, BetEasy provides an online guide that covers all aspects of responsible gambling, it is a useful tool for existing and prospective members. We cover the topic of responsible gambling in the Australian industry in more detail in our guide to betting.

Consumer protection

If you register an account with BetEasy you will be protected by Australian law in the event any issue may arise in your dealings with the bookmaker. The ACCC regularly monitors all betting sites and is not afraid to penalise bookmakers as evidenced in the case against Bet365 Australia.

Withdrawals can be made via electronic funds transfer to your nominated bank account. All account ID verification checks must be satisfied before you can make your first withdrawal.

Feature products

Betting promotions

BetEasy logo

BetEasy is one of the most aggressive operators when it comes to offering betting promotions to eligible existing customers. They are only rivalled by Sportsbet, and perhaps new bookmaker Neds, in this regard. Most of their offers require the placement of a bet on a selected event, if that bet loses, then they will offer a bonus bet refund. BetEasy typically offers promotions on: horse racing, AFL, NRL, NFL, A-League soccer, NBA and even less popular sports like baseball.

BetEasy My Rewards

The BetEasy Rewards program was the first of the Rewards Programs to be offered by an Australian bookmaker. Since then, both Neds and the TAB have added loyalty programs to their suite of membership features. Members can earn Rewards points by wagering on selected events. Points can be redeemed as bonus bets on gift cards and travel experiences. A full run down on their Rewards program can be found here.

Live streaming

Live streaming of horse racing and sports events is the latest battlefield for betting companies, in a bid to deliver greater value to their offering of features to existing members. Through a recent partnership deal with Sky Racing, BetEasy is able to offer its member live streaming of horse racing, harness and greyhounds events. There are restrictions to this offering: Members must have opened an account within the 3 months prior, or placed a bet within 24 hours prior to accessing the service. Live streaming restrictions are not uncommon, Unibet places a similar condition on their live streaming service to members.

Debit card

+/-

Those wanting to withdraw funds directly from their account, can apply for a BetEasy debit card. The card allows members to pay for goods and services using the card, in place of a regular bank debit card.

Cash Out

BetEasy logo

BetEasy allows members to use the cash-out feature to effectively cancel a placed bet at the current market price. The tool is increasing popular with multi bets where the first few legs are successful.

Sports betting products

BetEasy offers a full suite of sports betting markets for members to bet on. For example, for AFL betting, they will field up to 260 different markets on any given match.

The table below lists all of the sports bet types available with BetEasy, a full description of each betting product can be found in the sports betting section of our website.

Pro Tip:

BetEasy does not offer the most valuable horse racing product, Best of the Best. If you are looking for a comparable bookmaker that does offer the BOB racing product, then Betstar would be a very good option.

Horse racing bet types

The horse racing bet types offered by a bookmaker are really more important to punters than sports betting products, as there is far greater variety in horse betting products between the different agencies.

BetEasy horse racing bet types
Single bets Exotic bets
Top Fluctuation Each-way betting Exacta Double bet
Best Tote Place betting Quinella Treble bet

Website interface

BetEasy’s website interface for desktop and mobile devices is adequate for its intended purpose. It is not the slickest platform in the industry, but neither is it clunky. Betting is made easy as all selected bets are placed into a bet slip at the side of the page.
